Rob's Heatherton Utd under 13s hit 7 past Mt Eliza to go top of the ladder!
It was a wonderful Sunday morning filled with plenty of sunshine. You could tell that it would be a very special day for our girls and boys.
We had our full squad back after Subhan and Ibrahim got back from their holidays which the rest of players were very happy with.
Parents and friends were aplenty and were eager to cheer on our youngsters. There was a lot anticipation as this was our first home match and we were ready to rise to the challenge. The Stage was set.
Thankfully, we scored our first goal with only seconds after the game started. High ball over the defence proved to be pivotal as we went up 1:0. Our attack was at its best as was our midfield and defence with latter two promptly closing up opposition when needed. It quickly became 2:0 as relentless pressure towards opposition's defence made them score an own goal, 2:0 half time.
Rob changed things around in the second half as last year's midfield and attack quickly became a familiar one. This proved deadly for Mt Eliza. Amazing work in the defence allowed our midfield and in turn our wingers to open up opposition on the flanks with fast pace and crosses which were buried with deadly finishes. The game was over in first 10 minutes of second half as we scored 3 quick goals.
We scored 2 goals late on which gave us plus 10 goal difference after only 2 matches played.
We should be all very proud of every single one of our players as well as our coach who gave every player ample amount of time on the pitch.
Amazing start of the season which could go on for the rest of the year. There is nothing we can't do if we play as a team!
